CAMPAIGN FOR UN SECURITY COUNCIL, OLYMPICS AND EXPO
Paying an official visit to Chile, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis requested support from his collocutors for Turkey’s temporary membership at the United Nations Security Council for 2015-2016, EXPO 2020 candidacy of Izmir and for 2020 Olympic Games candidacy of Istanbul.
Bagis, having meetings following the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC)-EU Summit, met with Cristian Larroulet, the General Secreteray of The President of Republic of Chile, Undersecretary Julio Dittborn deputizing for Ministry of Finance and with Alfredo Moreno, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis requested support from his collocutors for Turkey’s temporary membership at the United Nations Security Council for 2015-2016, EXPO 2020 candidacy of Izmir and for 2020 Olympiad candidacy of Istanbul. Competitors of Izmir, which is candidate for organizing EXPO 2020 and will participate to the voting with the theme “New Ways for a Better World/Health for Everyone” to be held in Paris in November, are Avutthaya (Thailand), Yekaterinburg (Russia), Sao Paulo (Brasilia) and Dubai (United Arab Emirates). The competitors of Istanbul for Olympic Games are Tokyo (Japan) and Madrid (Spain).
During the visit of Minister Bagis, improving bilateral economic relations and providing Turkish Airlines to have flights to Chile have also been discussed. Bagis also met with Turkish enterpreneurs in Santiago, the capital.
