BAGIS DELIVERS A SPEECH AT STOCKHOLM UNIVERSITY

Minister of EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis who paid his first official visit to Sweden, one of the biggest supporters of Turkey’s EU process, delivered a speech on “The future of Turkey-EU Relations” at Stockholm University.

Expressing his pleasure on Sweden's support for Turkey's EU membership, Bagis said: “As the Prime Minister Reinfeldt also said, ‘Turkey has allies in the EU.’ We are pleased to know that Sweden is one of these allies.”

He stated that if the political blockage which Turkey faced during the EU process was removed, it would become possible to open 10 chapters technically within 12 months, and 15 chapters within 18 months for negotiations.
