BAGIS ANSWERS QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PROVOCATIVE MOVIE MADE IN THE U.S.
Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis attended the meeting of “Urban Design Network for Innovation in Ceramics” held with the initiatives of Iznik Tile Foundation in Iznik, a district of Bursa.
Stating that Iznik tiles not only look attractive but they also relieve stress; Bagis said “Turkey will be the cure to the ongoing stressful atmosphere of Europe”.
After the meeting, Bagis answered the questions of the journalists about the provocative movie called “Innocence of Muslims” insulting Holy Prophet Mohammad and noted the following:
“This piece of crap which is a so-called movie should not be a matter of discussion. We should even pity the time and energy spent on this extremely provocative movie. This is an attempt to influence the upcoming American elections through provocations by insulting the values of people from Middle East. It is a piece of trailer, a product of an extremely cheap, malignant and perverted mentality. It’s such a pity that although most people haven’t seen this piece of trailer, they have created a chaos in the Middle East as soon as they heard that it insults our values and our beloved Prophet, and unfortunately, this plays into the hands of such provocateurs. What we have to do is to deliver Islam’s true message of peace and welfare and to tell the whole world about our Prophet’s way of approaching to the humanity with real love. We all have burdens and responsibilities. In our faiths and values, killing one human being is killing humanity as a whole, and killing one human being is destroying the house of God, house of Allah. Therefore, we should not reflect our feelings by terror, violence, and killing people.
Stating that “Unfortunately those who commit such violence play into the hands of the provocateurs who want us to have a poor image with violence”, Minister Bagis continued his words as follows:
“Therefore, the call of our Prime Minister is extremely important. I believe that during his visit to New York to attend the General Assembly of the United Nations next week, the proposal of Mr. Prime Minister to consider insult against all sacred books, all values, and all faiths as a crime against humanity will be influential in the United Nations. I hope that all members of the UN would become united and reach a compromise that no one can insult another’s sacred book, faith and values, and that such insults cannot be explained as the freedom of expression since they are the seeds of incitement thrown at humanity. I hope that such events would express a warning for us. In this respect, we have to take more conscious, rational and careful steps in order for these perverted minds to be unsuccessful.”
