STATEMENT BY AK PARTY VICE CHAIRMAN MR. EGEMEN BAGIS ON THE 7TH ANNIVERSARY OF 9/11 ATTACKS
Today, unfortunately, on the seventh anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, its tragic impacts on the U.S society and on the influx of the world politics is still felt. We once again condemn all the act of violence and terror against humanity.
As the citizens of a country who has been suffering from the PKK terrorism, especially for over two decades, we are very well aware of the fact that terror has no religion, culture, race, ideology or geography. With this consciousness, we solemnly remember the 6 martyrs of today, and condemn the terrorist PKK for this action.
On that mourning day of September 11th 2001, my wife and I can never forget the indescribable tragedy of humanity that we witnessed closely in New York, on location
As a devoted country for combating terrorism, we are determined to the aim of eradicating terrorism from our planet in cooperation with our allies. Furthermore, Turkey and our party were among the first that condemned the attacks which prove our country's determination in fighting with terrorism.
As Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed on that day, in his first statement as Chairman of AK Party; To fight with terrorism establishing a common platform of international solidarity is requisite. World's need for such a platform in this period has grown, not decreased.
On this seventh anniversary of that horrible day, we remember Zuhtu Ibis within grace, a Turkish citizen and a brother, who lost his life while earning an honorable living for his family as a computer technician in the WorldTradeCenter.
May God bless his soul along with over two thousand innocent people that lost their lives on that day.
