BAGIS MEETS WITH CREIGHTON, MINISTER FOR EUROPEAN AFFAIRS OF IRELAND
Meeting with Lucinda Creighton, Minister for European Affairs of Ireland, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis noted that they had started the preparations of the work that will be carried out during Ireland’s presidency of the EU.
Bagis said: “For us, Ireland’s presidency will last longer than the presidencies of other member states. Maybe it will last for a year but not six months. For the time being, we have started the preparations of the work that will be carried out during Ireland’s presidency of the EU.”
Pointing out to the fact that there had always been good relationship between the people of Turkey and Ireland, Bagis said: “Ireland is assumed to be Europe’s door to North America and Turkey is assumed to be Europe’s door to Middle East, Caucasia and Middle Asia. Time is on Turkey’s side regarding its EU membership.”
