2.3 MILLION EUROS WILL BE GRANTED TO DEMOCRATIC CITIZENSHIP AND HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION
“Call for Proposal on the Project of Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education”, which will be carried out within the framework of European Union pre-accession financial assistance, was published.
Making a statement on the issue, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said: “The European Union closely follows and supports the culture of advanced democracy which Turkey has experienced particularly within the last decade and the advancement on the human rights. The Call for Proposal on the Project of Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education has been set forth as an indication of the importance attached to this process. I believe that every project to be realized on this field will be a very important step for the future of our children and the youth and it will directly contribute to Turkey’s process towards pluralistic democracy”.
Within the scope of this call for proposal, it is aimed that non- governmental organizations, universities, primary and secondary schools, vocational schools and public education centres play an active role in democratic citizenship and human rights education. It is planned that 2.7 Million Euros in total will be granted to the successful project applications and the deadline for submission of pre- proposals is 20 July 2012.
