THE CONFERENCE ON PROJECT OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN EU PROCESS

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis delivered a speech at the conference on “Project Opportunities within EU Process" which was organized in Istanbul by Beylikdüzü Municipality in cooperation with the Ministry for EU Affairs, and mentioned the projects implemented within Turkey’s EU accession process and related issues.

Bagis said he believed it would be beneficial to establish an “EU Project Center” that would mobilize the potential in Beylikdüzü and guide the people and indicated that the EU process would be more effective within the framework of “Istanbul is preparing to EU” Project that would be implemented with the support of district governorships and municipalities.

Indicating that he attached great importance to the meetings held by Beylikdüzü Municipality, Bagis said:

“Establishing centers for women, children and the youth can be a minor step for local democracies, but an important step in terms of Turkey’s democracy record. Beylikdüzü Municipality has established many schools and kinder gardens for our children for our youth and for our future. The construction of 6 new schools will also begin soon. Libraries have been built in 3 schools with the cooperation of district national education directorate. 8 health care centers where our citizens can receive health service have come into use. There are ongoing works for a nursing home. A guesthouse for women will soon be available for women in need. We have a project of constructing a state hospital with 400 beds. Mouth and dental health center will soon be put into service. Works for the coast road in Beylikdüzü and for Metrobus is ongoing rapidly. Transportation problem of the citizens will be largely solved with Metrobus.”
