MINISTER BAGIS PAYS AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO BRUSSELS

Paying a visit to Brussels in order to hold official talks with the European Commission, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis met with the members of the Turkish Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (TUSIAD) chaired by Ümit Boyner in the first stage of the program. 

Attending the dinner that the Union of Turkish Associations organized in his honor and meeting with the representatives of the Turkish non-governmental organizations in Brussels and in Genk, Bagis said: “We cannot speak anymore of a Turkey which is disconnected from its citizens abroad.” He also added, “Turkey safeguards its citizens abroad wherever they are. Today, embassies are no more the places that cause fear and hesitation but the places where the visitors can feel like landlords.”

Within the framework of his visit to Brussels, Bagis delivered a speech in the conference titled “East-West Relations, Turkey’s Outlook on a Changing Arab World” which is organized jointly by the Turkish Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MUSIAD) and the Economic Development Foundation (IKV) and met with the State Secretary Emir Kır.

Furthermore, within the scope of the study visits to Brussels and London on 5-8 March 2012 in accordance with the “Turkish Local Media on the EU Path” project, 10 local newspaper representatives paid a visit to Brussels, Belgium as a result of the seminars organized on regional basis in Turkey.
