EGEMEN BAGIS PAYS AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO LONDON

Paying an official visit to London, the capital of England, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator, Egemen  Bagis attended the reception and dinner hosted by the Prince of Wales, Charles on the occasion of a meeting of International Sustainability Unit .

Talking about agriculture and food safety, Bagis said EU’s opening of the negotiations with Turkey on food safety, one of the challenging chapters on road to membership, was an important development for Turkey.  In the meeting, Bagis also emphasized that 7,500 agricultural consultants were carrying out works to raise awareness on food and husbandry issues. Moreover, Bagis underlined the importance of the establishment of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Husbandry and the General Directorate of Fishery attached to it.

Within the scope of his official visit to London, Egemen Bagis delivered a speech in the London School of Economics (LSE) and he also met the representatives of English Network of Students (NOS).

Bagis will also meet the UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Willam Hague and the Minister for Europe,  David Lidington.
