TURKEY IS NOW A COUNTRY WHICH AFFECTS THE WORLD

Delivering a speech at European Union exhibition held in Cer Modern by External Relations Directorate of AK Party Ankara Provincial Chairmanship, Minister for EU Affairs Egemen Bagis said, “Turkey is no longer a country which is shaped by the world, it is now a country which shapes the world.” 

In his speech, Bagis said:

“That the theme ‘Leader Country Turkey’ was chosen as this year’s theme in the political academy actually demonstrates how great progress Turkey made in the foreign policy. We don’t have now leaders who bow and scrape before other people, we now have a Prime Minister whose every word people hang on when he talks. Turkey is no longer a country which is shaped by the world, it is now a country which shapes the world.” Later taking the floor at the conference, Omer Celik, the chairman of the Turkey-USA Inter-parliamentary Fiendship Group said, “In a period when people said Turkey was shifting its axis,

Turkey was detaching itself from the west, Turkey was detaching itself from the modern world, Turkey was evolving into another direction and in a period when every type of black propaganda was being mounted against the AK Party government, AK Party was struggling throughout the world for the EU which is the most successful modernization project of the world. Therefore we must appreciate the significance of the steps we have taken very well. It is thanks to you that Turkey today has freed itself from the residues of a 100 year history in a 10 year period and it relieves itself of 100-year-old burdens. Over and above, there were always hurdles to overcome in our way when we achieved all these. In a time when we directed our efforts towards a modernization project, those who were supposed to serve this nation and government were involved in conspiring to launch coups behind our back. They were engaged in plotting the downfall of the government."
