THE POINT OF VIEW OF EUROPEANS REGARDING TURKEY CHANGE WITH THE PROGRAMS OF TURKISH NATIONAL AGENCY

Participating in the handover-takeover ceremony of the Centre for European Union Education and Youth Programmes, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis stated that they enabled the funds granted to Turkey by the EU to increase by 40 percent. He also added that the point of view of Europeans regarding Turkey has changed with the programs of Turkish National Agency. 

Bagis said: “Within the framework of the programs of Turkish National Agency, 350.000Turkish citizens have gone to Europe so far and have become acquainted with Europeans. In this way, the point of view of the Europeans regarding Turkey started to change. This has provided an opportunity to change misinformation and prejudices regarding Turkey”

Stating that Turkey’s European Union Accession Process did not only consist of Chapters, Bagis said that it was a process which influenced the lives of the people. Bagis pointed to   the remarkable results of their work and added that they had enabled the funds granted to Turkey by the EU to increase by 40 percent. Bagis indicated that the greatest increase in other countries had been approximately 10-15 percent. Bagis said that the government achieved many goals and the most recent elections had been very important in terms of demonstrating the public support for their success. Bagis stated that the achievements of the Government had been noted and added that Turkey currently had a Prime Minister that had been re-elected for three terms consecutively with increasing popularity. Bagis said: “In Turkey, there is a Government which has leadership that is not only appreciated in Turkey,but also in all over the world.”

Musa Ceylan has been appointed as director to Centre for European Union Education and Youth Programmes, Fatih Hasdemir, the former director has been appointed as Deputy Undersecretary to the Ministry for EU Affairs.
