EGEMEN BAGIS MEETS FOREIGN PRESS MEMBERS AT BYEGM
Egemen Bagis, working hard to prevent the so called "Armenian genocide" bill that is expected to be floored at the US Congress in the near future, had a meeting with some of the foreign press members at the Prime Ministry Press and Information Directorate.
Bagis commented to the press members that should the bill was to pass, the Turkish-USA relationship would suffer a great damage that may reach levels that could not be compensated, and therefore that this should carefully be explained to the public and that in this regard, the media has the greatest function.
Also noting the prejudiced attitude of some media establishments conflicting with impartiality of press, Bagis commented on responsible news reporting. "These wrong news stories written under these circumstances ultimately hurt our country; however, when the time comes and truth unfolds, the actual ones that get hurt and lose credibility is the media itself. At the end of the day, all media gets hurt."
