Participating in the 8th Bosphorus Conference, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator, Egemen Bagis pointed out the importance of solidarity in the fight against international terrorism and reiterated Turkey’s expectation regarding the concrete cooperation of its European allies.

Delivering a speech at a session titled, “Turkey and the EU: The Next Steps” in the context of 8th Bosphorus Conference which was jointly organized by the British Council, Delegation of the European Union to Turkey and Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV) at Feriye Restaurant in Ortakoy, Istanbul, Minister Bagis said: “We are expecting from all our allies, particularly from our European friends, a concrete and explicit support in the fight against terrorism without leaving any grey areas.”

During his speech at the gala dinner of the Conference, Minister Bagis stated that terrorism did not differentiate between men-women or old-young. Bagis, said, “What al-Qaeda is to the Americans or 17th November to the Greeks, the PKK is to Turkey. We expect our allies to act in cooperation with Turkey.”

Stating that PKK was not only a terrorist organization, but also the most important means for the drug trafficking in Europe, Bagis said: “PKK kills our soldiers but it is also responsible for the death of many young people in Europe through drug trafficking. That’s why we should be united on this issue."
