BAGIS HOSTS A DINNER FOR THE MEMBERS OF THE INDEPENDENT COMMISSION ON TURKEY
Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis hosted a dinner in the honor of the members of the Independent Commission on Turkey (ICT) which is led by former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Foreign Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun and TRNC Ambassador to Ankara Mustafa Lakadamyalı at Swiss Otel.
During his speech, Bagis indicated that the declarations and reports of the ICT always supported Turkey’s EU bid and that the members of the Commission would welcome the realization of the proposals in ICT’s previous reports by Turkey which is excited about the new Constitution with both its government and the opposition.
"We deem ourselves as Turkey's reform kitchen", said Bagis adding "We’ve been preparing reform proposals to the Council of Ministers. We’ve entered a vital period in Turkish politics. All political parties represented in the Parliament, are in a consensus that Turkey is in need of a new constitution, which would be more comprehensive. As Turkey's reform kitchen, we are trying to support this process."
Former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari, in his speech, indicated that he was trying to follow the developments in Turkey closely adding that he was glad by virtue of Turkey's economic performance and her role in the region.
