EU MINISTRY TAKES OVER TURKISH NATIONAL AGENCY

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis has taken over from Minister for Development Cevdet Yilmaz the mission related to the Center for European Union Education and Youth Programmes – Turkish National Agency.

In his speech, Bagis stated that Minister Yilmaz was not only his friend but he was also a virtuous and dependable person. Bagis commemorated with gratitude the support of Minister Yilmaz in the EU accession process. Bagis emphasized that 38 thousand people had gone to EU from Turkey by means of The Turkish National Agency and he said that most of the people who went to Europe were students and young people. Bagis also emphasized that the participation of more than 40 thousand people was planned in different programs in the EU. He added that these people would tell those in the EU why Turkey should be a member of the EU.

Bagis stated that, together with the National Agency, they would concentrate on eliminating the prejudices and added that the transfer of such an important institution to the Ministry for EU Affairs was quite significant. Bagis noted that they would try to further enhance the Turkish National Agency.

Minister for Development Cevdet Yilmaz emphasized that there was no doubt that Bagis would take the Turkish National Agency a step forward. Yilmaz stated that the National Agency would work more efficiently both in Turkey and abroad.
