SECRETARIAT GENERAL FOR EU AFFAIRS RECREATION AREA OPENED

The opening ceremony of the Secretariat General for EU Affairs Park which was constructed in Ankara Pursaklar was held with the participation of Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, Mayor of Ankara Melih Gokcek and the representatives of the EU countries.

Minister Bagis, in his speech he made at the opening ceremony, said that Turkey would continue to progress on the way to EU membership resolutely despite all preventions and EU membership was Turkey's legitimate right.

Indicating that the symbols of the EU countries would be displayed in the park, Bagis stated that each country would send a symbol peculiar to its own to the park. Bagis emphasized that the construction of the park was completed in such a short time and that was the indicator of the dynamism which the EU needed most nowadays. Bagis, referring to Mevlana, said that speaking the same language was not enough to understand each other but you had to share the same feelings to understand each other and added that Turkey has been sharing the same values with the European countries for so many years.

Reminding also that it was the mothers' day, Bagis indicated that the kindness, patience and steadiness of Anatolian women would continue to be the most important guide of Turkey on its way to EU accession and continued: "EU membership is our legitimate right as the pure breast milk of our mothers and we will achieve that in the end."
