"CANAL ISTANBUL" IS A VISIONARY PROJECT
Referring to the "Canal Istanbul" project explained by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Minister for EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis stated that it was a project of vision.
Gathering with businessmen for dinner at Beykoz Cavusbası Pavilion, Bagis said the following:
"Saying even 'I can do this' is a matter of courage and a matter of vision. There, we will both overcome the transportation problem of the Bosporus and find a solution to the environmental issues. We all know that there is only one Bosporus in the world. A wrong manoeuvre of an oil tanker in Bosporus would be the end of Istanbul. But a canal just like the Panama Canal and other canals in other parts of the world which were constructed for a more regular transportation system and a flatter line which would prevent ships from going astray, will save Istanbul from a substantial environmental risk."
Stating also that the project was a serious economic project and adding that it would provide development, Bagis said the following:
"On the other hand, this is a training project. This will be adding a vision. In every aspect, this is a tourism project. For only this reason, the number of tourists coming to Istanbul will increase. This is a project of vision in every aspect as well. But being able to put this project forward is a matter of courage. If you come up with such a project and if you can not succeed they would make fun of you. But we have been working on this project for months. Even the slightest details have been taken into account.
I hope you will get to know more projects similar to this in the future.
