TURKISH-AMERICAN NATIONAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

"The Turkish-American National Leadership Conference" which is jointly sponsored by the two major Turkish American umbrella organizations - the Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA) and Federation of Turkish-American Associations (TADF) - was held in Washington, USA.

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis pointed out the importance of organization among Turkish society living in the USA and said "We can quickly get in touch with our citizens living abroad within a couple of hours, if they get affiliated to an association and if those associations are in contact with our ambassadors and counsel generals. We can develop one voice all around the world whenever there is news regarding Turkey."

Bagis indicated that the success of Turkish society in America was very important for the Turks living around the world and added "We have great expectations from you. I especially ask you not to forget that you are ambassadors and representatives of Turkey."

Bagis indicated that they expected the Turkish society living in America to attach importance to education. He pointed out that there were successful Turkish people in the USA, making Turkish people very proud and added that this success could be maintained by education only.

Bagis emphasized that every Turkish national living abroad had respective responsibilities for Turkey, and that those living in the USA, one of the most prominent countries of the world, had much more of that responsibility.
