TURKEY'S EU BID ENJOYS CONTINUED AMERICAN SUPPORT

Receiving Francis J. Ricciardone, the US Ambassador in Ankara, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said, "We expect the US to continue supporting the country's European Union bid and help to turn it into a more democratic, contemporary and transparent state"

During the visit held at the Secretariat General for European Union Affairs (EUSG), mentioning the US has always supported Turkey's full EU membership, Bagis expressed that this support was given by both Republican and Democratic administrations.

Noting that they followed this support with "great gratitude", Bagis indicated that Riccardone would continue this traditional support and he also wished success for Ambassador Riccardone in his new post.
