    TURKEY: MISSING STAR

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis attended the conferences on the EU accession process and publicity of Turkey in Denmark's capital city Copenhagen.

At the conference organised by the Danish European Movement Bagis firstly talked about Turkey's EU accession process and answered the questions.

Indicating the progress made in the EU accession process and pointing out that some EU Member states were still prejudiced against Turkey, Bagis said: "As the scientist Einstein says, overcoming prejudices is even more difficult than breaking atoms into pieces. Turkey is not an encumbrance on the EU but it makes contributions to the EU and this is determined by the EU progress reports too."

Bagis also participated in the "Turkey: Missing Star" activity which aimed to publicize Turkish arts and culture in European countries and said that they aimed to introduce different colours of Turkey within the framework of this activity. Bagis added that Turkey was a European country not only economically and politically but also culturally.

"Turkey: Missing Star" is the first stage of a series of activities to be held by TURSAK Foundation in three different EU countries with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Prime Ministry Publicity Fund.

Speaking at the conference organised by Danish Institute for International Studies on Turkey-EU relations, Bagis described the reforms carried out in Turkey on the way to EU accession and said that Turkey, compared to the past, achieved a better internal peace and developed more peaceful relations with its neighbours today.
