COOPERATION WITH UK ON ENVIRONMENT CHAPTER

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağış and Deputy British Minister for Europe David Livington signed a memorandum of understanding envisaging cooperation of two countries about Environment Chapter.

Releasing a statement at the mutual press conference that was held in the scope of 7th Bosphorus Conference that England was one of the countries that could understand and feel very closely Turkey's fluctuant movements on the negotiation process with EU, Bagis said "Because England's negotiation process was not an easy, as well. England inspires us with her decisiveness in this process."

Expressing that he has been together with Lidington at the dinner that was held last night in the scope of 7th Bosporus Conference, at the opening session in the morning and at the working lunch, Bagis said that "We have the possibility to evaluate with Lidington the issues on the relationship of Turkey and England, besides, the contributions of Turkey to the EU process, chapters that we still have negotiated, an understanding on closing the Environment Chapter, the Cyprus issue that has become the biggest obstacle for Turkey in the EU process and the chapters that we have trouble to open owing to this issue."
