WORLD BANK UNDERLINES "INNOVATION"

The study titled "Turkey: Country Economic Memorandum (2006) Continuous Development and Supporting the Relations with the EU" which was published on March 6, 2006 by the World Bank contributed to provide a strategic vision to the politics of integration of Turkey to the European Union.

According to the Country Economic Memorandum published in March, innovation is a very important tool for Turkey in the path of Europe. In the part titled "Obtaining the technology, Innovation and Skills" it was indicated that the importance the use of innovation which was described as information factors for increasing productivity and harmony with the EU's politics and strategies and the importance the use of technology and skills.

Listing the difficulties that Turkey has to solve in this context Country Economic Memorandum underlines the studies that have to be done on innovation in order to contribute to long term economic development and increasing employment rates in Turkey. In order to do that it is necessary to promote the innovation and encourage firms and researchers to partnership and improve the politics and laws that would provide these supports. Moreover, overviewing the intellectual and industrial rights and preventional strengthening of applications are needed. Increasing the practice of national innovation system is very important to the accordance the EU politics and support of innovation.
