IT IS NOT A COINCIDENCE THAT THE DEMOCRATIC COUNTRIES PROSPEROUS

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis speaking after the iftar held by the Besiktas Province Organisation of AK Party said that the ones who think about and try to find solutions for the problems of the needy in the Ramadan had also to consider the problems and deficiencies of their country in this Ramadan.

Bagis indicated that nobody should doubt that Turkey would be a more democratic, more transparent, modern, respected and a richer country after the adoption of the constitutional amendments package.

Stating that in the countries that adopted a democratic regime not only the goods but also the people were valuable, Bagis said there was not a poor democracy in the world but all the poor countries were governed by dictatorship, repressive mindset and restrictive constitutions.

Minister Bagis said: "it is not a coincidence that the countries whose constitutions reached democratic standards, gave liberty to individuals and removed the restrictions imposed on people are rich countries."

Indicating that the content of the constitutional amendment package should be understood clearly, Bagis said the package should be approved after reading its content and considering its benefits to the country.

Stating that the people always rewarded the ones who consider the problems of the people as their own but punished the ones who moved away from them, Bagis said they knew very well that they would be punished in the elections in case they take a wrong step. He added: "The opposition parties who have no hope for the elections try to find hope in the courts and this mentality is condemned to eternal opposition."

Bagis said: "Turkish people will make the greatest investment ever made until today on September 12. Turkish nation, in order to prevent their children from experiencing the problems which they themselves suffered and to reach the level of modern civilisation, shall give the best answer to the ones who advise them to vote "No" on September 12.
