TODAY, TURKEY IS MUCH BETTER THAN 8 YEARS AGO

Watching the 658th Elmali Yesilyayla Oil Wrestling Tournament which was held in Elmali district of Antalya, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis addressed a speech in the wrestling yard.

Giving a speech and delivering his message in the activity that the President of Parliamentary Assembly Council of Europe (PACE) and AK Party Antalya deputy Mevlut Cavusoglu also watched, Bagis expressed that any antidemocratic or illegal practice would not be accepted in Turkey anymore.

Pointing out that the enthusiasm of wrestling had not ceased and reached the large masses for 658 years, Bagis said that Turkey could rarely have such politicians who had the courage to enter the lists and stated the following:

"Turkey has been lack of politicians to wrestle in the field of contest to set their hearts on for the rights of nation. At last, on 14 August 2001, a wrestler appeared in the field having invincible wrist which took its power from its nation and Turkey entered the world arena with a tougher tight. Nobody can tear the thigh of the Turkey anymore. Nobody can show the star to our belly any more. And no power can make Turkey fall into a trap. In Turkey, wet wood does not burn with the dry ones. Any antidemocratic or illegal practice is not accepted and does not have place in this country anymore".

Expressing that Turkey had reached the levels that she could not even imagine 8 years ago, not only as a country that provided inner stability and self confident but also attracted attention by being a ray of hope to the whole world, Bagis said " World is experiencing a global economic depression very harshly. Turkey says "good bye" to IMF instead of "all right". The world is not able to solve its problems right now; they will no more say "Oh Gosh, The Turks" but "Thanks God, The Turks".

Bagis and Cavusoglu visited the governor of Antalya Dr. Ahmet Altıparmak and the district governor of Elmali Murat Çekmen in their offices in the same day and they received information concerning the studies and problems of the county.
