6TH EU INTERNAL COORDINATION AND HARMONIZATION MEETING

The 6th EU Internal Coordination and Harmonization meeting, chaired by Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, was held at the Secretariat General for EU Affairs.

Speaking at the meeting in which senior representatives from 67 public institutions and organizations participated, Minister Bagis made assessments regarding the recent developments in the EU process.

Reminding that a new chapter was opened during the term presidency of Spain, Bagis said "We would leave the control to Brussels if we focus on only the number of chapters opened in the EU process. The thing which is important is not the number of the chapters opened, but what we have done to attain the EU standards."

Stating that Turkish Grand National Assembly submitted the most comprehensive constitutional amendment package, Bagis said "12 September 2010 will be a turning point in Turkey's EU negotiation process."
