WE EXPECT MORE COOPERATION AGAINST TERRORISM FROM OUR EUROPEAN ALLIES
Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis attended 60th Nobel Prize Meeting that was held in Germany Lindau. From 70 countries, 700 young scientists attended "Lindau Nobel Prized Scientists Meeting" which was held at Germany, Lindau town in Inselhallede Congress Hall.
Bagis said in his speech he delivered at the meeting that "science does not only provide industrial development, but also helps countries to communicate, discuss and to find peaceful solutions to the problems."
Underlying the point that science and research was one of the 35 topics which was negotiated between Turkey and EU, Bagis declared that this topic was about to close in the accession process. Bagis pointed out that Turkey was fully agreed with the EU about providing scientific standards and their sharing.
Bagis delivered a speech to "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" newspaper in Germany which he went to attend 60th Nobel Prize Meeting.
In his speech, Bagis asserted that when the accession negotiation was over, Turkey was going to be a more different than she used to be 50 years ago. He also added that:
Maybe 5 years later maybe 3 years later, as a result of negotiation, there will be a different Europe in front of Turkey. Today's EU has not been the same with the EU of ten years ago. Therefore, we should not take impetuous decisions and we should focus on validation of EU standards in Turkey. Consequently, we will ask to our people whether Turkey is needed to become EU member or not. Then the same question will be asked to the people in Europe."
