THEY WILL NOT SUCCEED!...

Evaluating the terrorist attacks in his article published in the Star Newspaper dated June 22, 2010, Minister for EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said: "The target of terror is the democracy, change and development. While we are continuing our fight against the terrorist organizations, we will never give up realizing the democratic developments about which the terrorist organizations feel uneasy."

In his article Bagis mentioned about the following:

Within this scope, with the ambassadors of approximately 20 European Union member states and the representatives of Delegation of the European Union to Turkey, we were going to remind these messages once more during two days and we were going to explain contributions that Turkey would make with its values and prosperities.

With its renovated Akdamar Church which rises freely from the ground, immensity of Lake Van, the rhapsody of Mukus River, the sincerity and deep-heartedness of Fakiye Teyran, the EU Ambassadors were going to find the chance of seeing all these messages in place.But unfortunately, we once more confronted with the harsh side of terror on Saturday morning and we got very much distressed by the news of martyrs coming from Semdinli and Palu. I extend my condolences to our nation.

The target of terror, the aim of this fierce curse was once more declared when we participated in the funeral ceremony of these very young soldiers while we were planning to participate in the Fakiye Teyran Cultural Festival in Bahcesaray.

The build-up of solidarity in Turkey annoys the terrorist organization, the aims which it serves are quite clear. This leads to terrorist organization's confronting with the problem of identity and existence. Democracy, change and development are the targets of terror.

The target of terror is Turkey's solidarity and unity. Moreover, terror requires status quo and isolation. Terror is not something new. It is beyond question that the terrorist organization will also be very much satisfied from a country where no courage had been demonstrated to realize the change since the 1980's when the terrorist activities first occurred, no risks had been taken, no rise had been observed regarding the democratic standards and where status quo and isolation had reigned.

Regardless of the consequences, we will never give up realizing the democratic improvements which the terrorist organization feels uncomfortable about while we are continuing our active fight against the terrorist organization.
