TURKISH DAY IN HANNOVER
Addressing the citizens in his speech he delivered within the scope of "Turkish Day" organized in Hannover, Germany, Minister for EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said: "The unity and solidarity among you enhance our strength. With this enthusiasm we will pave the way for Turkey's EU membership.
Bagis continued his speech as follows:
"Turkey and Germany, as the two biggest locomotives of the EU, once more depicted their powers in the Eurovision song contest. The most dynamic economies in Europe today are the Turkish and German economies. Turkish-German friendship is one of the most powerful bridges of the world with our citizens amounting to 3 million. But, we need your help and support in order to strengthen this bridge."
Emphasizing that the Turkish people should be reliable and hardworking among the German society, Bagis said: "You have to be the most respected, most reliable, most virtuous, most hardworking and most honest persons of the society you live in. Every good deed you perform is perceived as a kindness showed by a Turk in Germany. I am very well aware of the fact that you will not make any mistake, but if anyone makes, this will be reflected as something negative to all of you. For this reason, you should love each other, you should admit one another as you are and you should support one another. You should be a model to one another.
Also wishing that the Turks living in Germany gave great importance to education, Bagis said: My dear friends, try to give your children the best education you can. If they are well educated, they can be doctors, lawyers, journalists, politicians, prime ministers and even federal chancellors in this country where you arrived as a worker.
Egemen Bagis said that in the event that the Turks sustained their unity and solidarity and in the event that they perceived the differences as richness, they would have the opportunity to tell everyone their potential to bring peace to the world.
