EU LESSONS BY THE SHADOW OF KARAGOZ
The shadow play named "European Union Lesson from Karagoz", which was realized by the Secretariat General for EU Affairs, has started to appear on the scene on 27 March World Theatre Day.
The first play was presented for children at the Istanbul Office of Secretariat General for European Union Affairs with the participation of Minister for EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis. Watching the play with the children, Bagis said that they had organized such a play in order to explain the EU to the children in the best way.
The project will be carried out within the framework of "European Union Strategy for Turkey's Accession Process" which aims to involve all segments of society to EU process. The 4th and 5th grade elementary school students in the 10 pilot elementary schools to be determined by Istanbul Provincial Directorate for National Education will be reached and then children receiving education in the various cities of Turkey will be reached.
Through the shadow play "European Union Lesson from Karagoz", by keeping the traditional Turkish theatre alive, it is aimed to introduce the EU to the children and to spread the EU enthusiasm and conscience to all children in the country.
