THE CANDIDACY OF TURKEY TO HOST 2016 EUROPEAN FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The Committee under the presidency of the Chairman of Turkish Football Federation (TFF) Mahmut Ozgener, State Minister Faruk Nafiz Ozak paid a visit to Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis in his office in order to discuss Turkey's candidacy to host 2016 European Football Championship.
In his speech he delivered before the meeting, Bagis said that Turkish Football Federation's candidacy to host 2016 European Football Championship brought a new dimension and excitement to Turkey's EU negotiation process.
Stating that from the moment they heard the decision to be a candidate, they esteemed it a duty to support that issue, Bagis said that they had also launched initiatives on this issue in all countries they visited.
Bagis said : " Fortunately no one gave a negative reply to our demand. I hope we will undertake to organize an event befitting Turkey. I congratulate the federation officials for their efforts. I also thank to our honorable Minister"
Stating that since the beginning of the candidacy process, Minister Bagis had been working more than them, State Minister Faruk Nafiz Ozak said that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was excited when he heard about the candidacy decision and gave a letter of support amounting to 920 million Euros.
