"TURKEY SHOULD NO LONGER BE A COUNTRY OF MURDERS BY UNKNOWN ASSAILANTS"

Delivering a written message on the occasion of the third anniversary of Hrant Dink's death, Minister for EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, stated that all their efforts were towards enabling Turkey to cease from being a country of murders by unknown assailants.

In his message, Bagis indicated that Hrant Dink's struggle all through his life for tolerance, democracy and peace should be taken as a good example. Bagis noted these:

"Unlike some other people, Hrant Dink did not build politics over his own identity. He believed in the idea of living all together in peace regardless of the differences and he made efforts to achieve this target. Our attempts are to reveal secretly written scenarios and enable Turkey to cease from being a country of murders by unknown assailants. This is the fundamental aim of our fight against the illegal structuring."

Stating that struggle was much more strengthened with the National Solidarity and Brotherhood Project carried out by the leadership of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Bagis noted that they were not only after unveiling whatever was hidden but also they were in pursuit of an atmosphere in which every single Turkish citizen has equal rights and freedoms.

Emphasizing that the reforms realized during EU membership process were the most important constituent of that opening, Bagis noted these:

"Our efforts are towards rendering every single Turkish citizen as powerful as possible and as free as possible. That is why both the National Solidarity and Brotherhood Project and EU membership process are indispensible. Today I would like to commemorate once more Hrant Dink with gratitude and respect who struggled for a more tolerant, more democratic and more colourful Turkey where the citizens live peacefully regardless of the differences."
