DEPUTY GOVERNORS TO ACT AS EU CONTACT POINTS IN 81 PROVINCES
Within the scope of the visits regarding the EU process, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis visited the Minister of Interior, Besir Atalay. There, Bagis discussed the establishment of the European Union and Projects Offices within the governorships, which would act as the provincial organisations of the Secretariat General for EU Affairs.
Bagis declared that EUSG was preparing a new EU strategy consisting of four basic platforms. Bagis stated that they were in close cooperation with the Minister of Interior Besir Atalay, regarding the "Political Reforms" which was the most important platform of this strategy.
Pointing that for the system to be established, firstly deputy governors who would act as the EU Permanent Contact Points in provinces would be determined, Bagis said the EU activities in those provinces would also be announced by the Secretariat General for EU Affairs.
Bagis stated that under the scope of political reforms regarding the EU process, which were foreseen together with the Ministry of Interior, the Constitutional amendments and legal arrangements would be realized through the "reform packages".
