"THIS MISTAKE SHOULD BE CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY"

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator, Egemen Bagis went to Stockholm, Sweden to attend Turkey-EU Joint Advisory Committee; there he answered the journalists' questions relating to the agenda and the referendum to ban the new minarets.
Bagis stated that resorting to a referendum for such an issue had been a mistake on its own and it had upset everyone. He added: "Sweden is not a member of the EU. If it was so, the result would not have been like this. EU has standards for everything. With regard to these issues, city councils only prepare the construction plans". He continued his words as follows:
"Almost all EU countries stated that the decision was wrong and it should be corrected. Even Vatican made the same statement. We are uneasy about the decision. It is not possible to understand the intolerance of a country like Switzerland in this matter. I hope that they will correct this mistake immediately. Also, I don't think that other European countries will give credit to this decision".
Bagis stated: "Switzerland should not be an open-air museum for intolerance in the middle of Europe".
