10 MILLION EUROS OF SUPPORT FOR THE SCHOOLING OF GIRLS
Grant scheme for “Increasing School Attendance Rates Especially for Girls“ which will be carried out under Human Resources Development Operational Programme within the framework of the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) and the aim of which is to support the projects to be developed by non-governmental organizations, local administrations, educational institutions, institutions of vocational education and training, international organizations, has been published.
Drawing the attention to the importance of the matter, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said, “Girls’ schooling and their acquiring enough knowledge, skills and gaining confidence to participate in the labour market is an important issue in terms of the individual and economic freedom of our women and its contribution to our economy. Moreover, schooling of our women is a guaranty of our trust in the future generations who will be grown by them. It not acceptable that in 21st century the girls experience difficulties in schooling and not being able to ensure the gender equality in this field. Therefore, I believe that the projects to be implemented through this programme will have significant contributions to increasing the school enrolment and attendance rates of girls and raising awareness among parents on this issue.
It is planned that 10 Million Euros in total will be granted to the successful project applications and the deadline for submission of pre- proposals is 21 December 2012
