"THE PROBLEM WAS TO FIT THE ‘TURKEY TRAIN' TO THE EUROPEAN UNION TRACKS"
Speaking at AK Party Beylikduzu 1. Ordinary District Congress, Egemen Bagis, Minister for EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator, said that, just like the renewal of nature in the spring, AK Party also renewed its power and excitement with those congresses.
Defending that many political movements in Turkey took AK Party as a model, Bagis said "The ones who can not bear the rise of AK Party, its being close to the nation, its conciliatory character between the nation and the government, its getting more closer to us each day, has started repeatedly to deal with the past. But this nation hasn't forgotten that their conception of democracy is the distance between their seats and hat in the cloakroom."
Bagis continued his speech with these:
"We are looking ahead for a bright future for Turkey. We have achieved all these: We made Turkey a distinguished member of the United Nations Security Council after 47 years, the inflation rate have been dropped to under 10%, we worked with great efforts in order to increase the employment in Turkey and to increase the purchasing power of people by withdrawing at an average of 7 billion capital, we demonstrated the unfair party in Cyprus to the world without withdrawing even one soldier and without giving even a piece of land, Recep Tayyip Erdogan had been the first prime minister to go to Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Ataturk's house in Thessaloniki. Just as we achieved all these, it would be AK Party's duty again to carry Turkey to the point it deserves in the EU negotiations.
Bagis recorded these:
"Since then, we have been headed for the EU. Since then, we have been struggling and we have realized, within 2 years, what couldn't have been done for 45 years. We have come to power in 2002 and in 2004 we received a date for the negotiations. The negotiations have been continuing since 2005. For the time being, 10 out of 33 chapters have started to be negotiated. Till now, there doesn't exist a single country which started the negotiations but couldn't finalise them. The problem was to fit the Turkey train to the European Union tracks. We have realized, within 2 years, what couldn't have been done for 45 years. Every train proceeding over these tracks, have finalised the negotiations and achieved their goals in the end. Likewise, Turkey will achieve its goal. No one should have any doubts about that.
Defending that some resistance focal points whether in Turkey or in EU were doing everything in order to impede them, Bagis said: "Some people within Turkey may wish to return to those blurred days when the country was governed by the gangs but, Turkish nation will not let this occur. AK Party will not let this occur." Resource: AA
