“A STATE WITHIN A STATE CAN NEVER BE TOLERATED IN DEMOCRACIES”

Egemen Bagis, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator, who indicated that Turkey will continue on its way of contemporary civilization as a democratic, secular and social state with the national will, stated that “gangs, criminal organisations and “a state within the state” can never be tolerated in democracies”.
Minister Bagis attended the diploma ceremony held in Istanbul for the “Project for Vocational Education of Young Girls under the Protection of the State” carried out by the Murat Akdoğan Foundation for Education in collaboration with the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies with the support of the Istanbul Development Agency.
Stressing the importance of education for the country, Minister Bagis said “Education is one of the best defences against those who oppose our unity and integrity, who want to weaken our country and who oppose a vision of a future of hope.”
Minister Bagis referred to quote from the famous philosopher Haci Bektas-i Veli “Darkness is at the end of the road that does not pass through knowledge”, and said “We once again see that insidious groups bereft of knowledge, wisdom and foresight are moving to lead Turkey into darkness”.
Bagis indicated that just as global forces’ attempts to initiate a coup under the guise of the “Gezi Park” incidents had been curtailed with by the national will, current efforts would be of no avail and said that “Turkey would never be a state for oligarchies, aristocracies and specific groups.”
Bagis also said “The fact that the mentality that is currently embracing the very individuals that they themselves had expelled from their own political parties on allegations of corruption now has turned to teaching us a lesson on this subject is truly tragicomic. Those who refuse to embrace the memory of our nine martyrs who have lost their lives to state terrorism on the Mavi Marmara have nothing to teach us. From now on, everyone will have to learn remain where they should. They should know their place and their limits.”
Minister Bagis, who said “There is no such thing as the servitude of one to the other either in our religion or values” and stated that the mentality “the state for the nation” had replaced that of “the nation for the state” as of 2002.
Minister Bagis underlined that they would not provide any opportunities for those who obviously missed past days when interest rates increased by 8000%, when shop owners closed their shutters and the citizens’ debts were doubled and assets were halved just because the a small volume of the Constitution was pushed from one side of the table to the other, and that Turkey was no longer the country that could not see 12 hours in advance, but a country that can make plans for 2023, 2053 and 2071.
