2023 OBJECTIVES WILL BE ACHIEVED THROUGH INNOVATION

Ministry for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, delivering a speech at the Turkey Innovation Week organized by Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM), said that EU process was an innovation and peace project by its own.

Minister Bagis indicated the followings at the meeting held in Istanbul:

“EU which was foreseen by Ataturk in 1920s is a peace project. EU is a reform and innovation process in order to increase the life standards of our citizens. EU is the common gain of our citizens. Therefore, I give great importance to Innovation. Actually, Istanbul is an example of innovation for those who want to see. Istanbul has hosted different civilizations throughout history. It is the only city of world which had been founded on two continents. There is a lesson from history taught by Istanbul in the name of Innovation: it is the lesson of living together. That’s why; I would like to congratulate TIM for making such a summit traditional in Istanbul.

Most of steps that we have taken for the last decade are those towards individual rights, democratization, and freedom of expression and of conscience. They have had clear reflections also in economy. Because, it is hardly possible that the countries which limit their own citizens can make economic progress. Thus, we cannot ignore individual rights while dealing with the economic development and innovation. These processes have to proceed together.”

Minister Bagis, stating that education should be given great importance in order to create innovative ideas, said that Turkey would not be able to achieve its objectives without passing to creative education from rote learning.

Bagis, stressing that Fatih Project was produced in order to lead the field of innovation, said “Through this project 16 million young people will be able to follow the latest developments and publications in the world. A knowledge-based society will emerge. We will make 2023 dreams come true by innovation. We have the will to make this happen. We will solve our problems only by education. As you know, the biggest share in the budget belongs to national education. We believe in education and innovation.”
