236 MILLION EUROS TRANSFERRED TO TURKEY BY EU COMMISSION DECISION
Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, making a statement on the financial assistance of 236 million euros which was decided to be transferred to Turkey by European Commission, said “Turkey will make further progress on the democratic acceleration which has been gained through the reforms with a nature of revolution that were carried out successively for the last 11 years.”
In his statement, Minister Bagis indicated “A resource of approximately 650 million liras will be transferred to the improvement, progress and development of Turkey without receiving even a penny from our citizens. I hope it will be fruitful to our country, our nation and our EU process.”
Bagis, stating that they made significant efforts on the transfer of above mentioned resource before EU, thanked to EU and to Stefan Füle, Commissioner Responsible for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy. Minister Bagis said that the resource is an indicator of the faith of Turkey’s determination to reform process as well as it is significant in terms of the support for Turkey’s reforms. Bagis indicated the followings:
“Turkey will make further progress on the democratic acceleration which has been gained through the reforms with a nature of revolution that were carried out successively for the last 11 years. Through 2013 pre-accession financial assistance, Turkey, hosting a lot of democratic reforms and changes during the last process, will add new achievements to all of its economic, social and legal achievements gained in 2012. The positive developments stated in Turkey Progress Report 2013 were in this way once more registered by EU. Today, Turkey is not exhausted by reforms; instead it is matured by reforms.”
Minister Bagis, indicating that they desired the continuation of the positive developments experienced during the last weeks in terms of Turkey-EU relations, said that it was possible with the concrete steps to be taken by EU in addition to the reforms carried out by Turkey.
Bagis, stating that he hoped that the resource would be fruitful for Turkey, said “No one doubt that Turkey will add new reforms to the previous ones which it is used to carry out during the last years.”
