BAGIS THANKED U.S. PRESIDENT OBAMA
Within the framework of the contacts in Ankara which started with a visit to Ataturk's Mausoleum, Barrack Obama, the President of the United States, were greeted by President Abdullah Gul, with an official ceremony at Cankaya Presidential Residence. Arriving at Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA), after the meeting, Obama was met by Koksal Toptan, the chairman of TGNA. Addressing to the General Board of TGNA, Obama stated that the greatest thing Turkish nation inherited from Ataturk was the lively and secular democracy of Turkey. He added "TGNA ensures the sustainability of this". Reminding that his visit to Turkey was his first visit to a country acting as the President of USA, Obama pointed out that he had attended to G-20 Summit in London, NATO Summit in Strasbourg and the EU Summit in Prague. Greeting the Presidency Council after his speech, Obama shook hands with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the ministers. Afterwards, Barack Obama, President of the USA moved to the Main Building of Prime Ministry and met with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and there he stated that he was waiting with excitement partnership with Turkey and the developments as an outcome of this cooperation.
Minister for EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis also thanked Barack Obama, President of USA, for his support to Turkey and Turkey's EU membership process.
