EU SUPPORTS YOUTH PROGRAMME EVERY YEAR
Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis stated that with the Youth Programme, Turkey made use of approximately 15 million Euros EU support every year and with this financial resource, young people were sent to the EU countries for different purposes such as training, traineeship, volunteer working, etc.
On the announcement made by the Ministry for EU Affairs, it has been reminded that the application deadline for youth projects, which will be provided 5 million Euros EU support by the Turkish National Agency, is October 1, 2013.
Within 2013, applications for youth projects have been received by the Turkish National Agency in two different periods, and approximately 500 projects have been entitled to receive 10 million Euros allocation.
Regarding this issue, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said: “The Youth Programme is one of the most significant means that helps to eliminate prejudices, which are one of the most important obstacles in Turkey’s EU accession process, by enabling that our young people meet their European peers in joint works. As Turkey, we make use of 15 million Euros EU support every year with the Youth Programme and with this resource, we send our young people to the EU countries for different purposes such as training, traineeship, volunteer working, etc. Within the scope of the Youth Programme, four young people can gather and make a project application. Therefore, our young people are showing a keen interest in these programmes, which is very pleasing for us. Thanks to the widespread promotion efforts by the Turkish National Agency in recent years, Turkey has been the third country, after Germany and France, which makes the most use of the Youth Programme. I, hereby, would like to invite our young people and non-governmental organizations that are involved in youth works to make use of the Youth Programme for the third period of 2013.
