TURKEY SHOULD PROTECT THE YOUNG AND THE CHILDREN IF SHE IS TO MAKE PROGRESS IN HER EU TARGET
The ceremony on the permanent kinder gardens constructed by the contributions of the benefactors and by Uskudar Municipality Social Development Center (TOGEM) in 2005 under the safeguard of Emine Erdogan, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's wife, took place in Baglarbasi Culture Center.
Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Bagis, State Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator, pointed out the EU project Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan considered as the most important modernization project after the establishment of the Republic and said "We know that we can't take our place among those civilizations without protecting our children and our young."
Bagis told that Turkey had to protect her children and young if she was to reach the level of modern civilizations Ataturk had aimed.
Drawing the attention to the fact that the average age is 28 in Turkey, Bagis said that %65 of the population was below 35.
Emphasizing that the number of the young and the children constituted the majority of Turkey Bagis said the future wouldn't be bright if we didn't protect the young and the children starting from now on. He went on as "As the youngest minister of the cabinet, I am aware of the fact that we can't achieve one of the most important projects of the Republic without protecting our children."
In the ceremony, after the speeches delivered by State Minister Nimet Cubukcu and the head of TOGEM Saadet Gulbaran, the benefactors were awarded with plaques.
