EGEMEN BAGIS PARTICIPATES IN CEREMONY OF “THE EUROPEAN BUSINESS AWARDS”

Minister for European Union Affairs and the Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis participated in the ceremony of “the European Business Awards “organized in Istanbul, and made a speech, mentioning Turkey’s economic situation and the EU accession process.

Bagis stated that it was necessary to consider the achievements so far in order to understand potential of Turkey and added “We are the fastest growing economy in Europe now. We are one of the countries in the world, with a sound economy. We have increased per capita income of 3 thousand dollars to 11 thousand dollars in the last decade and we aim to rise this figure to 25 thousand dollars by 2023”.

Bagis indicated that they regarded the year of 2023 as an important and symbolic year, since it would be the 100th anniversary of the foundation of Turkish Republic. “We hope that Turkish economy will be among the ten largest economies in the world and that Turkey will join the EU in 2023. The right place for investment is Turkey and the right time is right now; thus investors are going to prosper together with the country”, said the Minister.
