EGEMEN BAGIS MEETS WITH JEAN MONNET SCHOLARS

2011-2012 academic year Jean Monnet Scholars certificate ceremony was held in Ankara with the participation of Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis and Head of Delegation of the European Union to Turkey, Ambassador Jean-Maurice Ripert 

Within the scope of Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme funded by the European Union and implemented by the Ministry for EU Affairs, approximately 100 scholars who returned to Turkey after completing their educations in Europe’s most prestigious and famous education institutions received their certificates from Egemen Bagis.

Deputy Minister for EU Affairs Dr. Alaattin Buyukkaya, 1993-1995 Academic Year Scholar former President of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, MP Mevlut Cavusoglu, Co-Chair of TR-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee, MP Afif Demirkiran, Deputy Undersecretaries of Minister for EU Affairs Dr. Mehmet Cangir, Dr. F.H. Burak Erdenir and Head of Central Finance and Contracts Unit Muhsin Altun attended 2011-2012 academic year Jean Monnet scholars certificate ceremony as well.

In his speech that he made during the ceremony, Egemen Bagis indicated that millions of euros were allocated within the scope of this programme for the Turkish youth to get education at the most prestigious education institutions and he implied that students going to Europe via these programmes assumed an important role just like the ambassadors in terms of representing Turkey.
