EGEMEN BAGIS REVIEWS THE SOLUTION PROCESS

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis during his visit to Sanliurfa attended a meeting and made a review on the solution process. Bagis said: “To sum up the meaning of the solution process in one sentence, it is the process of implementing a constitutional principle which says all the citizens of the Republic of Turkey are equal”.

Bagis attended the 8th Regional Meeting of AK Party Political and Legal Affairs Directorate which was held at a hotel in Sanliurfa. In his speech titled “Governmental Actions” Bagis stated that the AK Party government had tripled the per capita income in the last 11 years. Bagis said that Turkey for the first time in the history was represented in international platforms at the highest level during their government and noted the rapid development of the country. Bagis stated that many novelties had been introduced in AK Party’s governmental period and continued as follows: “To sum up the meaning of the solution process in one sentence, it is the process of implementing a constitutional principle which says all the citizens of the Republic of Turkey are equal”.

Bagis pointed out the constitutional principle which states that all the citizens are equal and said: “Armenians in this country could not pray in their own temples; Roman citizens of this country did not feel that they were the inseparable components of the country. Even the presidents of this country could not express that they were Kurds. However, today a state TV channel broadcasts 24 hours in Kurdish. Prisoners can talk to their mothers and relatives who visit them in their own language. And the politicians can make political propaganda in whatever language they wish.

Bagis also attended the Eurodesk Certificate Awards Ceremony held by GAP Youth Association in Sanliurfa. In the speech he made there Bagis said that 61 thousand people had been sent to Europe for training with EU funds last year and their target for this year was 70 thousand.

Bagis referred to the solution process in the speech he delivered in the Ceremony too. He said: “After nearly a 3 years break we are opening the Regional Policies Chapter to negotiations with the EU. Opening the Regional Policies Chapter to negotiations has a special meaning when Turkey is carrying out the solution process. It means that Turkey declared its will to eliminate the inter-regional differences in distribution of income and bring the unfair distribution of income to an end. It also means that the European Union approves and appreciates the egalitarian approach in Turkey.”
