    EU MINISTERS MEET IN IRELAND

After Ireland took over the EU Presidency for the 7th time, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator, Egemen Bagis visited the capital of Ireland, Dublin.

Within the framework of his Ireland programme, Bagis attended the study breakfast organized by the European People's Party (EPP). Then, on the same day, he attended the second session of the Closed EU Ministers Informal Meeting held in the Dublin Castle.

Bagis pointed that Turkey had not attended the EU meetings for 6 months as the EU Presidency had been hold by a country not recognized by Turkey. Moreover, he recalled that no candidate countries had been invited to EU Summits for a long time.

Bagis also attended a bilateral meeting with Stefan Füle, EU Commissioner for Enlargement.

Moreover, Bagis also met with the writers and artists who organized the “Istanbul talks in Dublin” and he stated that Istanbul was one of the most important trump cards of Turkey’s foreign policy. He said that they had decided to highlight Istanbul during the EU process, as of this year.
