PRIME MINISTER ERDOGAN AND ACCOMPANYING COMMITEE VISITED CERN
Erdogan and an accompanying committee including the State Minister Mehmet Aydin and AK Party Vice-Chairman Egemen Bagis visited the European Nuclear Research Center (CERN), based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Director of CERN, Robert Aymar informed the committee regarding studies of the center and noted that 2329 people are working in the institute, and that the budget of 2007 was around 610 million Euros. Aymar said Turkey is among the main observers of the institute along with USA, EU Commission, Russia, Japan, India, and Israel. Aymar also mentioned that around 100 Turkish researchers contribute to the institute.
Prime Minister Erdogan, Mr. Bagis and delegation were also informed by the Turkish researchers Dr. Bilge Demirkoz and Dr. Gokhan Unel and further visited some departments of CERN.
