ISTANBUL IS AN EXAMPLE TO EUROPE

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said: “With the inspiration derived from İstanbul, a city where the local and the global unites in harmony, Turkey strives to do its best to create a peaceful, fair and prosperous world.” 

Speaking at the inauguration of the “Design Conference” held in Istanbul in the last day of Turkey Innovation Week, which is organized by Turkey Exporters Committee and with the contributions of Arcelik and Turkish Economy Bank, Bagis stated that there wasn’t a better location than Istanbul to hold this event and added that Istanbul was the most Asian country in Europe and the most European country in Asia.

Bagis noted that, İstanbul, with its historical background, could be a source of inspiration for a world based on compassion and peace. Bagis stated that the co-existence of mosques, synagogues and churches in harmony imparted tranquillity to humanity and that they promoted peace and tolerance.

Bagis said: “With the inspiration derived from İstanbul, a city where the local and the global unites in harmony, Turkey strives to do its best to create a peaceful, fair and prosperous world.” Bagis stated that in the course of Turkey’s EU accession process, they tried to remind Europe the culture of living together, which is an ancestral tradition.

Stating that the investment in democracy had been the most important investment made by the Government for Turkey in the past ten years, Bagis outlined the steps taken and the progress achieved in this respect.
