EGEMEN BAGIS ADDRESSES THE CEBIT SUMMIT

Delivering a speech at the CEBIT Media and Communication Summit, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis indicated that he gave importance to the social media and said “I consider each of my followers as my friends.”

Minister Bagis started his speech at the session titled as “Social Media” of the summit held in Istanbul by wishing success with a lot of tweets, social media and active participants.

Stating that Istanbul was a very accurate address for such a meeting, Bagis stressed that Istanbul was a point in which the east and the west merged and came together.

Minister Bagis said “Those who click on the link of Istanbul meet at the address of peace, brotherhood and tolerance. Istanbul became a meeting point of those who share peace, brotherhood and tolerance, and a center with the most followers.”

Bagis, indicating that globalization changed the concepts of time and space to a great extent, said “The IT sector is not a hobby to be followed closely anymore, instead it became an obligation.”

Stating that he gave importance to the social media, Egemen Bagis said “I consider each of my followers as my friends. We may not agree with each other on every subject. I pay great attention to critics unless they include insult. In that case, I block. I believe that blocking is a more severe punishment than bringing the case into the court as some politicians did.”
