TOLERANCE IS PROMINENT FOR THE ENTIRE WORLD

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 1st Industrial and Cultural Event of KONEXPO organized in the Istanbul Feshane International Fair Congress and Culture Center by the Konya Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association (KONSIAD) under the slogan of “Meeting of Two Capitals”, the Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis stressed that mankind has struggled to combat terrorism which causes the entire world to suffer a lot. 

Minister Bagis said: “The understanding and love which embrace people like an antidote to their suffering so as to eliminate these troubles and problems are just shining and sparkling from Istanbul and Konya.

Asking the EU to be all ears to the messages of tolerance from Istanbul and Konya, Minister Bagis continued as follows:

“It is saddening to see that some people with Fascist mindsets in Europe advocate such an understanding as ‘Leave! No matter who you are, just leave!’, whereas we try to spread the messages and teachings of Mevlana as, ‘Come! No matter who you are, come!’ However, the results of the elections held in the Netherlands yesterday are promising. In the previous elections, people of the Netherlands unfortunately chose to vote for those who had considered insulting our values as an accomplishment. That party received 16 % of the votes. Yet, thank God, they were defeated in the elections yesterday. This proves that the messages of our Eyup Sultan and Mevlana have now started to be felt all over the world”.

Highlighting the importance of the tolerance Turkey represents, Minister Bagis added: “Messages of tolerance from Turkey help people in Syria, Gaza, Rakhine, Palestine, and all around the world look to the future in hope. Therefore, we need more than ever to adopt the values of our ancestors and spread them to the entire world.”
