    THIRD JUDUCIAL REFORM PACKAGE BRINGS TURKEY A STEP CLOSER TO EU STANDARDS

    Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said that they got closer to the European Union standards with the third judicial reform package.

    After attending the closing meeting of the “Volunteer Turkey Social Participation and Change Project” which was carried out in Istanbul by the Ministry for EU Affairs and Turkish National Agency under the frame of “2011 European Year of Volunteering”, Bagis answered the questions of the press and highlighted that the third judicial reform package was an indicator of Turkey’s determination in making judicial reforms.

    Reminding that two judicial reform packages was already implemented, Bagis continued as follows:

    “It is time Turkey attains an independent and impartial judicial system that is above the EU standards. The third judicial reform package has brought Turkey a step closer to those standards. Each article in this package is important in terms of attaining a judicial system in accordance with the European standards. We are working on the fourth judicial reform package currently, and Ministry of Justice has made a presentation to the ministerial cabinet about it.
